Fair Market Value of Donations
Determine the fair market value on the date of contribution
If your Donation is... The Fair Market Value is...
• Terra Foundation Flow-Through LP • The closing price (net asset value) for the mutual fund shares on their donation date, multiplied by the number of shares donated.
• Cash • The amount of the cheque or wire amount that TerraTundra Foundation receives.
• Mutual Fund Shares • The closing price (net asset value) for the mutual fund shares on their donation date, multiplied by the number of shares donated.
• Stock or Bond Certificates • The average of the high and low selling prices on the date of contribution, multiplied by the number of units donated.
• Stock or Bonds Delivered Electronically • The average of the high and low selling prices on the date of contribution, multiplied by the number of units donated. The date of the contribution is the date the transfer is made on the books of the issuing entity or its transfer agent.
Historical trade information, including high, low, and closing prices, may be found on various financial websites including www.tmx.com. Contributors may provide the date of contribution to TerraTundra Foundation in writing (fax is acceptable) and TerraTundra Foundation will respond with a letter showing the high and low trading prices, or a mutual fund's net asset value, on that date. Include the security name, the trading symbol, the date for which you want prices or a net asset value, the donor-advised account number (if established), your address or fax number, and your signature.
